You might be asking “Is a 3/2 MBA worth it?” Staying in school to pursue your MBA is a big decision. A decision that includes contemplating whether or not you need your MBA, when the right time to get your MBA is, and how to pay for it. While every individual is different, and I cannot tell you what is best for you, I can tell you why I decided that the 3/2 MBA from the Kelley School of Business was the best decision for me and how it provided the value I needed to confidently take my next step after undergrad.
I had spent part of high school and all of college studying accounting and finance. I had built up a strong understanding and saw value in my accounting and finance majors. What I did not know was how to take my school knowledge and apply it towards a career that excited me. I needed more time. I needed more experiences. Even though I did not know it at the time, I needed more connections to the working world. The 3/2 MBA program provided me all of that.
The 3/2 MBA program has given me an extra year in school to find a company that I am excited to start working for next fall while removing the extra year that a regular full-time MBA would require. Graduating with my undergraduate degree and master’s degree in five years, instead of six, has provided a lot of value to me. The MBA degree also allows me to reach the credit hours that I need to sit for the CPA exams. The time that the 3/2 MBA program has provided me to complete these personal goals was a key reason behind my decision to continue my education.
The experiences that the 3/2 MBA program has provided is another key reason I pursued my MBA. The program is filled with the opportunity to work abroad, classes that provide real consulting experience with local companies, and an MBA level learning environment for students dedicated to developing new skills. Real world experience in a school setting is hard to come by, but luckily the 3/2 MBA program prides itself on the ability to create that opportunity for students.
My final reason for why the 3/2 MBA program was a great fit for me and why it provided me so much value was the connections that I made through the program. My classmates are some of the best friends I have ever had and are the hard working, like-minded individuals that I will be surrounded by for the rest of my life. In addition to classmates, the business world connections that are made with alumni, faculty, and industry professionals are what sets this program apart. I can proudly say that my full-time job offer was made possible by the informational interviews, networking, and connections that the program has to offer. I would not have found the exciting opportunity I have today without being a part of the 3/2 MBA program.
While everyone will have different decisions to make regarding higher education and the value that it can provide them, I know that my decision to take part in the 3/2 MBA program at the Kelley School of Business was one of the strongest choices that I have ever made. It will continue to pave the way for my success in the future and is already paying dividends today.
